Medtronic Senior UX Product Specialist (Northridge, CA or Mounds View, MN) in Northridge, California

Careers that Change Lives

The Medtronic Diabetes Business is one of the most exciting, dynamic and challenging spaces in medical devices. More than 463 million people worldwide suffer from diabetes, and this is expected to reach close to 600 million in 10 years. The diabetes device industry is unique in that technologies available to monitor and manage diabetes are starting to converge with consumer electronics technology. As such, the decision dynamics are evolving; patients have a stronger voice in therapy choice, care is transitioning away from specialists, and the role of artificial intelligence is elevating care.

We look for leaders who have a clear vision of where we are going and how to get there, bold inclusive thinkers who create new ideas and bring our best solutions forward to benefit our patients, business partners, and customers.

As a UX Product Specialist, you will help guide the direction for new product features and enhancements through a human-centered design approach in the Customer Centered Design team at Medtronic Diabetes. You will use your strategic, creative, and technical expertise to lead the planning of deep and meaningful product experiences that impact our customers, our business, and our technologies. You will seek to understand customer personas, their key use cases, and maintain focus on the key feature differentiators that will satisfy and delight the customer. These product solutions are designed for patients, their caregivers, and healthcare providers. This role will work closely with the Voice of Customer team, User Experience Designers and Researchers, Software Developers, Systems Engineers, Human Factors Engineers, Business Analysts, Marketing, and other program team members to incorporate human-centered product and service design thinking and innovation. You will support bridging new technologies with customer needs in our product development process and activities from early ideation all the way through transition to development. The role will collaborate with the program teams on high impact initiatives to create innovative health care solutions that address the core needs of all our customers and users.

You will help drive design sprints through a human-centered design process, guiding sprint teams to frame design challenges, collaborate on ideas, develop prototypes and test them.

The output of your work will provide a fluid transfer into development by building clarity of the higher-level purpose and vision of the potential value in commercialization.

The Diabetes Operating Unit seeks candidates who will exceed our customers’ expectations by striving without reserve for the greatest possible user experience, best in class reliability and quality, processes, and systems by being accountable, having a voice, and taking action.
