Medtronic Senior IT Manager - Enterprise Cloud Security Architecture in Minneapolis, Minnesota

The person in this role may work remotely within the US or onsite at a US-based Medtronic facility.

The Senior IT Manager - Enterprise Cloud Security Architecture is responsible for security-oriented Enterprise strategic leadership, vision and alignment of business capabilities, technology services, value & maturity assessments. The role will require investment prioritizations, and broader portfolio alignment driving business value and outcomes. This highly visible role will also actively influence and communicate key Enterprise security strategy with all levels of the business and technology organization and maintain management responsibilities for the Cloud Security team in the GCISO office. The Sr. Manager, Cloud Security Architect will also mentor other Medtronic architects and employees to develop and mature security-oriented knowledge, strategic planning and subject matter expertise. Key activities include:

• Provide leadership and act with vision in identification and assessment of emerging information security trends and alignment to existing architectures for the betterment of the overall organization.

• Security-oriented capability model guidance, assessment, alignment and prioritization

• Ensuring alignment across broader security solution portfolio to drive a consistent ‘enterprise design’; manages definition and changes to ‘enterprise design’ security context.

• Partner with business & IT leadership to align & define strategic security-oriented capability & technical roadmaps.

• Oversee and ensure alignment to global reference architecture standards & governance.

In this role, you will be a key leader in the identification of risks/opportunities across the enterprise capabilities and technical landscapes, guiding teams to mitigate risk, and assisting with establishing and maintaining a governance model across the global architecture.

You will serve as a representative from the Global Cyber Information Security Team to review new strategies and initiatives and provide information security architecture guidance and decisions regarding the viability of components, design and operationalize the landscape, and participate as required within the Architecture Review Board and Architecture Technology Governance Council to establish and maintain standards.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

• Develop and implement security measures for cloud-based solutions.

• Develop and implement a comprehensive cloud security strategy that aligns with the organization's goals and compliance requirements.

• Optimize cloud security and operational costs, ensuring high efficiency without compromising on security.

• Maintain an understanding of advancing cloud capabilities, IT, and business needs while identifying and proposing cost and functional efficiency options for the customer’s collaborative decisions and actions.

• Oversee and ensure alignment to global reference architecture standards & governance.

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other security architects and engineers.

• Develop and implement security standards and best practices for cloud infrastructure and solutions in Azure, AWS, and other Enterprise cloud environments.

• Evaluate new cloud security technologies and common services and make recommendations for their use.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement secure cloud-based solutions.

• Lead and partner with Medtronic business and Global IT teams to define, design, implement, monitor, and maintain the Enterprise cloud security architecture vision and strategy to meet Enterprise need.

• Ensure compliance with security and regulatory requirements.

• Develop and maintain documentation related to cloud security solutions.

• Maintain key performance indicators for area of responsibility.

• Support and advise on application assessment, migration, and modernization.

• Design cloud infrastructure, virtual private cloud, virtual private network, relational database services, auto scaling, and computing resources to meet customers’ requirements.

• Delivering end-to-end cloud architecture security solutions

• Collaborating with enterprise architecture team and other stakeholders to determine enterprise tools, technologies, and processes.

• Supporting the development of open architectures and applications, infrastructure, and cloud platforms to ensure they are best suited for Cloud deployment and consumption.

• Driving the organization towards Cloud best practices and supporting technologies to enable such capabilities as DevSecOps, Big Data/Analytics, AI, Cloud scalability, and Micro-Services.

• Architect, design, develop, troubleshoot, and implement cloud solutions across a hybrid cloud platform.

• Working closely with the GCISO teams to ensure the applications and solutions designed and deployed are secure and compliant.

• Subject matter expert within cloud technologies, and various cyber security domains such as network security, data security, identity and access management, etc.

• Develop security policies, standards, procedures, guidelines, and best practices.

• Perform security assessments and threat models on technologies, assets, and services.

• Establish and maintain best practices for cloud security and compliance, adhering to industry standards and regulations.

• Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in cloud security, incorporating innovative solutions to keep our services at the cutting edge.

• Leads strategic enterprise security architecture definition based on business requirements, risk management & assurance needs, and IT strategies (including closure of current state gaps and pain points); define or approve when it is necessary to modify the security architecture to accommodate business needs.

• Continuous analysis of technology industry, security, and market trends, and determine their potential impact on the enterprise.

• Facilitate development of pan-Medtronic security solutions that combine knowledge of particular business processes and issues, enabling solution options, and process facilitation techniques.

• Key contributor to the enterprise reference architecture models (creation, maintenance, governance)

• Ensure alignment and adherence to the governance activities associated with ensuring security architecture compliance.

• Ensure all solution architecture design and analysis work within the standard architecture documentation is documented and included in the architecture repositories.

• Utilize platforms such as OKTA and Azure Active Directory to establish secure and seamless access to resources, leveraging familiarity with IAM standards such as SAML, OAuth, and OpenID Connect.

• Managing and leading a team of security professionals that support the business portfolios, providing coaching, feedback and driving accountability.

• Partner with key leadership, process, and project team members to define security capability needs, assessment (maturity and value) and roadmap capability needs to enable business strategies.

• Maintain strong vendor relationships that support business and security objectives.

• Accountable for maintaining responsible budgetary in area of responsibility.

• Evaluate team performance and manage equitable promotional opportunities for cloud security team.

• Partner with key leadership, process, and project team members to define security capability needs, assessment (maturity and value) and roadmap capability needs to enable business strategies.

• Ensures that existing solution portfolio, cloud-oriented architecture and information management strategy creates a foundation for future investment in business capabilities, business intelligence, and collaboration.

• "Sell" the architecture process, its outcome and ongoing results to senior leadership across Medtronic business and technology globally.

• Contribute to and cultivate a culture which promotes the development of business capabilities, process excellence, and shared best practice execution.

• Gather, review, assess and partner to drive new ideas, initiatives and projects through innovation, demand and global portfolio processes.

• Foster a positive, engaging and challenging team-focused ‘global’ work environment to ensure high productivity, employee engagement, and optimal performance.

• Proactively engage with Medtronic business and Global IT partners to identify and define opportunities where the application of information technology can advance the strategic goals and objectives of Medtronic.

MUST HAVE (Minimum Qualifications)

• Bachelor’s degree

• 7+ years of experience with a bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of experience with an advanced degree

• 5+ years of managerial experience

NICE TO HAVE (Preferred Qualifications)

• 7+ years of information security assessment, architecture, engineering, and operations

• 5+ years of experience aligned to a relevant architecture discipline (integrations, data, services, applications, infrastructure)

• 5+ years of experience and strong knowledge of Enterprise-class architecture concepts, definition, and creation

• 5+ years of experience in architecting and engineering cloud-based services / applications (SaaS), platforms (PaaS), and infrastructure (IaaS) within an Enterprise environment

• Certifications in information security, including CISSP, CISM, CGEIT, CRISC, GIAC certifications (GSEC, GCIA, GSE)

• Proficiency in designing and implementing IAM solutions using platforms such as OKTA and Azure Active Directory, including user authentication, single sign-on (SSO), multi-factor authentication (MFA), and lifecycle management.

• High degree of ‘learning agility’ with the ability to readily consume and apply new information and concepts with developed analytical problem-solving skills.

• Advanced degree in Computer Science or business-related discipline

• Strong business acumen, decision making, and influence skills across all levels of an organization.

• Experience in business capability and process modeling.

• Excellent leadership and teamwork skills

• Strong communication skills, including with employees, clients, senior management and vendors.

• Strong results orientation (driving to deadlines, financial targets, project goals, etc.)

• Ability to work collaboratively and partner with employees, leaders, clients, and vendors.

• Demonstrated ability to work in a global, virtual organization.

• Excellent presentation skills, including the ability to translate technical information into business terms (e.g., ability to explain complex technical solutions and architecture strategies to non-technical resources)

• Knowledge in user experience modeling, information design, and concept generation.

• Technology depth and credibility with technical staff.

• Work experience in the Medical Device Industry, or other regulated industry.

• Ability to mentor and develop business, architecture, and technical resources.

The provided base salary range is used nationally (except in certain CA locations). The rate offered is compliant with federal/local regulations and may vary by experience, certification/education, market conditions, location, etc.
