Reporting to the Neurovascular Operating Unit President, the VP of Research & Development (R&D) plays a crucial role in crafting annual and long-term strategic technology plans. This involves leveraging internal and external strategies to propel the Neurovascular Operating Unit (OU) and Medtronic toward their product development goals.

This leadership position oversees global R&D for Neurovascular (NV), driving strategic growth and success in new product development. Responsibilities span defining, developing, qualifying, and releasing new NV products into the market. The R&D function serves as a strategic lever for the NV business, aiming for on-time/on-budget delivery of new products, while also nurturing global leadership development and emerging markets within the engineering staff. Additionally, proactive assessment and roadmap definition for future platforms and product development are integral aspects of this role.

Given the Neurovascular business's projected growth, this role is pivotal in achieving objectives such as fostering innovation, accelerating product introduction, and leading neurovascular therapy adoption in the market.

A Day in the Life

· Establish and execute the vision, strategy, and annual goals, ensuring alignment with global business strategies.

· Identify growth opportunities and unmet customer needs, guiding ideas from conception to market implementation.

· Collaborate with the NV leadership team on critical projects for overall business success.

· Develop budgets, short- and long-term objectives, and progress monitoring criteria.

· Drive product improvement and innovation, including ancillary or new products and services.

· Lead the evaluation of new product ideas or extensions to meet customer needs and drive revenue growth.

· Spearhead theoretical and experimental investigations for technological advancements or discoveries.

· Develop and implement a comprehensive R&D strategy aligned with NV’s overall goals and objectives.

· Drive continuous improvement initiatives in R&D processes, technologies, and methodologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

· Stay current and ahead of industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies to identify new growth opportunities for growth and differentiation.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

· Bachelors degree required

· Minimum 15 years prior technology, engineering or R&D experience with 13 years of leadership experience; or advanced degree with a minimum of 13 years prior technology, engineering or R&D experience and 12 years of leadership experience

The provided base salary range is used nationally in the United States (except in Puerto Rico). Base pay is based on numerous factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, etc.
