A Day in the Life

Under the leadership of DACH leaders, support in-country to promote, enhance and protect the organization’s reputation with relevant audiences. Understand local market and business goals and frameworks and consider scenarios and projects that complement the communication perspective of each opportunity. Translates business goals and objectives into impactful and measurable communications strategies and executes end to end plans. Supports local deployment of Western European communications strategies.

The International Communications Team partners with business and regional Leadership to support business imperatives through creation of impactful and measurable communications strategies; to build trusted partnerships and contribute to initiatives that elevate our brand, secure market leadership and deliver superior revenue growth.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

  • Support comprehensive 360 communications strategies initiatives that promote, enhance and protect the organization’s reputation to both internal and external audiences, which may include media, top customers, industry stakeholders as defined, as well as localization of Corporate campaigns and communications projects with relevant stakeholders.

  • Develop internal communication strategies to create business literacy, employee engagement, and brand ambassadorship among employees, deploy and localize key documents and reports, press releases, interviews and other external and internal communications vehicles as defined, support senior leadership in communicating to external and internal audiences.

  • Support response to local issues and potential threats in business continuity and reputation, in close collaboration with Legal, Regulatory, HR and International Communications colleagues when needed, as well as execution of therapy-specific value proposition initiatives.

  • Work with managers to determine communications budget and timeline, coordinate communications outputs and deliverables on time and within budget, maintain local media relationships and support dissemination of information and releases.

  • Demonstrate strong understanding of the region's unique communication and promotional policies in Medtronic strategy to create a public relations strategy that influences public opinion and promotes products, ideas, and services.

  • Maintain key internal relationships with Global Regions partners to inform, gain input, and support decision-making.

  • Acquire and maintain a detailed knowledge of the company’s policies, principles, and strategies, and keep up to date with relevant developments.

Required knowledge and experience:

  • Excellent written, verbal, copy editing, and presentation skills in local language and English.

  • Core business acumen and general understanding of healthcare market place, with a demonstrated ability to work with organizational decision makers, both internally and externally.

  • Experience implementing strategic communications initiatives and campaigns to deliver measurable results, as well as expertise in managing project timelines and budgets.

  • Ability to use tact and professionalism including in times of heightened stress, along with a demonstrated ability to work independently with limited oversight, a deadline-oriented, inquisitive personality with great follow-up and reporting skills, as well as a strong attention to detail and problem-solving approach.

  • Knowledge and understanding of both traditional and emerging communications channels, including social media and digital platforms.

  • Deep understanding of Medtronic branding, style, policies, and processes

  • Successful both as a team player and as an individual
