A Day in the Life

The R&T Technician supports the day-to-day operations of the battery research team. Collaborating with scientists and engineers, the technician is responsible for experimental execution and documentation, materials testing, building batteries, and data collection. This may include coordinating cell build activities with other departments, and conducting tests of engineering samples following methods, procedures, standards and sequences. The technician will also work closely with the lab services team, with joint responsibility for electrical testing support including: laying out and assembling test boards and fixtures according to designs/specifications, and loading batteries onto test boards and initiating testing on equipment.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Provides technical support to engineers to achieve improvements in cycle-time, yield, unit cost, quality, safety and compliance of production and operations processes and products.

  • Monitors instruments and equipment and collects operating data, including calibration, inspection, testing and repair activities, to assist in making on-line adjustments to instruments, equipment, or products.

  • Analyzes and resolves malfunctions and deviations of instruments and control systems to identify and resolve problems.

  • Conducts, analyses and prepares reports using metrics from salvage tracking, trending, reporting and root-cause analyses.

  • Maintains process designs to optimize process, equipment and facility use while conforming to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience of relevant experience and may require vocational or technical education or certification in addition to prior work experience

  • Must have a high school diploma, or equivalent

Nice to Have

  • Associate degree in a technical program or other technical training/certification

  • 2+ years of experience in manufacturing environment (preferably medical manufacturing) or laboratory setting

  • 2+ years of experience in batteries, capacitors or other related electrochemical components

  • 2+ years of experience in handling or working with chemicals

  • Familiar with Arbin, Maccor, or other similar commercially available battery test equipment

  • Experience using Microsoft Office products, particularly MS Word , MS Excel, and Teams.

  • Experience following procedures and work instructions

  • Good organizational and verbal communication skills

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
