A Day in the Life

As a Data Annotation Manager, you will be responsible for:

• Managing the members of the Surgical Data Annotation Team, which includes both junior and senior members of the team.

• Working closely with other teams in the AI Centre of Excellence (AI CoE), which includes data science teams, software engineers and Machine Learning engineers, to identify annotation solutions to novel R&D projects.

• Planning, developing, delivering, and evaluating department initiatives that aim to improve efficiency, performance, and team infrastructure challenges.

• Acting as a subject matter expert for clinical annotations and surgical processes.

• Supporting and delivering ongoing educational and training initiatives for members of the team.

• Supporting Teams across the Medtronic product portfolio by providing annotations as a service for Proof-of-Concept work and New Product Development.

• Translating complex clinical concepts into understandable actions for members of the team with limited clinical exposure.

Must Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (clinical, data science etc.)

• Minimum 3+ years of management experience

• Strong leadership skills and confidence managing a team that is based remotely

• Strong organizational and communication skills

• Clinical background, with an understanding of clinical data and data governance mechanisms

• An interest in digital solutions, software, and artificial intelligence

Nice to Haves

• Higher degree (e.g. Masters) in a relevant field, such as health data science

• Understanding of clinical terminologies (e.g. SNOMED CT, ICD-10) and health data standards

• Experience in Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) or in regulated industry

• Experience and understanding of Agile work processes in Software Development

• Experience in project management and delivering innovative solutions to complex problems

• Understanding of basic statistical and mathematical functions as is relevant for Artificial Intelligence (e.g. Regression analysis) and comfortability with basic data work using an appropriate language (SQL or Python)
